How to use plug-ins in Adobe Acrobat

All Acrobat plug-ins add their functionality under top-level 'Plug-ins' menu in Adobe Acrobat. Many plug-ins also add icons and toolbars to Adobe Acrobat 'Tools' panel.

Troubleshooting:

Make sure Adobe Acrobat is not running during the installation. Sometimes, Acrobat may be running invisibly by your browser and you may need to restart your computer in order to force Adobe Acrobat to update its menu. If you have successfully downloaded and installed a plug-in but can't find it in the 'Plug-ins' menu, then make sure that 'Use only certified plug-ins' option in Acrobat application preferences is not set:
1. Start Adobe Acrobat and select 'Edit > Preferences..' from the main application menu.
2. Select 'General' group of settings (Acrobat 8) or a 'Startup' (Acrobat 6,7).
3. Make sure that 'Use only certified plug-ins' option is OFF.
4. Save settings and restart Adobe Acrobat.

• The current release includes the following changes to the supported platforms. In version 18.0 and later:
  • Windows 10 is the primary operating system for Windows platforms.
  • The supported compiler for all Windows platforms is Visual Studio 2017(version 15.3.3).
  • Mac OS X 10.12 (Sierra) is supported on 64-bit platforms.
  • The supported operating system for Linux platforms is CentOS 7.3, with the Clang 3.9.1 compiler. The glibc version to be used is 2.17.
  • The supported compiler for all Macintosh platforms is Xcode Developer Tools 8.2.1.
  • Support for the following platforms has been discontinued:
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 on 32-bit platform.
